North/South

Cuiseur_thermos_BISS_1_1.jpgpicto.jpgThe North/South Pavilion will be entirely given over to organisations that make solar technology and solar energy accessible to developing countries.

In developing countries, where people do not always have access to mains electricity, solar energy is an excellent way of providing power (for cookers, water pumps, etc) to isolated communities. Although many organisations carry out this type of work, it is not always easy for them to make their initiatives known.

The North/South Pavilion will enable them to raise their profiles, explain what they do and, perhaps, inspire new projects.

Bolivie_1_1.JPGBolivia Inti-Sud Soleil at the Solar Event

Bolivia Inti-Sud Soleil carries out development work in the countries of the Andes, most notably through the promotion of solar cooking amongst cash-poor communities in sun-rich countries, such as Peru, Bolivia and Chilli.
Since it was created, the association has held a large number of solar-cooker construction training courses in Andean villages. As a result, more than 6,000 solar cookers have been built, benefiting over 30,000 people.

Hydraulique sans frontières

L'association Hydraulique sans Frontières supports development projects, mostly in rural areas, by providing technical assistance for drinking water (abstraction, wells and boreholes, water tanks, etc), irrigation (small reservoirs and dams, etc.), wastewater treatment and electricity production schemes.
